While living in both Ashland, OR and San Diego, CA, I worked for several years as a hairdresser. As part of my service, I would give each client a scalp massage. A few times a day, someone would say to me, "You have great hands", or "You have such a healing touch".
One afternoon, while glancing thru the local paper, I saw an ad with the words, "Do people tell you you've got great hands?" and I thought, "Why yes! Yes they do!" (it made me smile). It was an advertisement for a massage school, and a few weeks later I decided to enroll. In 1994 I got my 100-hour "massage practitioner" certificate from Mueller College of Holistic Studies in San Diego.
For several years after that (in S.D. and L.A.) I did out-call massage only.
When I moved to the Paradise, CA area in 2002, I decided to return for further education, and got my 600-hour "massage therapist" certificate from The School for Alternative Healthcare in Chico. For 14 years, I had a sweet little massage studio in Paradise, where, for me, it was a pleasure just to walk in the door. That studio is gone, but I'm still practicing massage, and being able to offer this service means a great deal to me in these crazy times! :)
I hope you will join me for an hour or two of deep relaxation, and that perhaps you, too, will say "You've got great hands!". :)
